Frequently Asked Questions

What is counselling?

Counselling is a talking therapy, usually for 50 minutes, where the counsellor works together with the client to offer ways to explore issues or concerns you may have.

What happens in a counselling session?

Essentially, we sit in a calm space and you share your problems/issues with me and I support you to explore what is going on for you.  Through careful listening and questioning, I will assist you in identifying patterns of behaviour aiming to get to the root cause and gain better understanding of yourself and your world. Your counselling journey may help you to make positive change to improve your emotional wellbeing.

How many sessions will I need?

This is a difficult question to answer, as it depends on the nature of what you wish to explore. Some clients begin with short-term counselling if they have a specific issue they wish to focus on, which can be approximately six sessions. However, your counselling journey will be guided by you and will be regularly reviewed regularly to ensure it continues to meet your needs.
